Yep. Legally and socially. I see a lot of Angloamerican immigrants in other countries call themselves ‘expat’ and some even think that they have a ‘different’ legal status and standing inside the society. Like the Brits in Spain, a significant number of whom seem to have thought that they were ‘special’ and somehow they were not going to be affected by the local immigration laws after the UK exited the Eu. Choosing not to apply for residence despite local governments’ warnings. Leading to much discomfort.
