Leaving aside whether the US ever 'led' the world in anything else than trying to exploit everyone in the world in the same way that it has been doing to its own citizens, China's diplomacy and 'leadership' come with no strings like 'you have to privatize your social services and national resources' attached. Which is why almost entire Africa and South America prefer dealing with China today.
