What I fear we have lost in modern society is not due to introversion, but due to the breakdown of the trust that used to bind human relations. We can see that in our politics and commerce, where self-interest has replaced the core values that used to underpin society.

That's what I said. Late stage capitalism exhausted all the profit maximization venues and it is as of now eating the society from inside out to profit. People have 3 jobs and yet are homeless. Parents cant feed their children. 99% has financial insecurity. NExt month is uncertain. Everything is about money - money that you dont have. In such an environment, you cant have human relations. The society becomes a stressed-out, hostile place. People get alienated from each other, then start closing inwards and try avoiding interacting with people. In the later stages of social collapse, people try to avoid going out as every outing means passing by hundreds of stressed out people even while buying groceries. And you end up with a society of introverts - a lot of whom are not actual introverts, but have to become one to defend their mental health.

Fixing this problem means behaving with honour

I lived through a society that was destroyed by capitalism before. There is no such fix. And what I lived through wasnt even a total social collapse like the one the US is in. The only way to reverse the trend and undo the damage is to reverse what capitalism has done. And capitalism wont do that.
