Indeed, the term 'expat' seems to be reserved mainly for those from Angloamerica and it does not seem to apply to the rest, true. However note that even that invented description is false - in the eyes of the law and the people of local country, an immigrant is an immigrant regardless of the length of the visit. If anyone is staying more than a few months, then he or she is an immigrant both legally and socially.
